The right cane length may vary depending on factors such as your environment, level of independence, and walking speed.
If you are a fast walker on outdoors and fond of your independence, it would be good to choose a cane length at chin level (between your shoulder and nose level) or at nose level. But if you live in a crowded and fast city, choosing a long cane can be dangerous for you.
If you live in a crowded city, it would be better to choose a cane length at the sternum (4 fingers above the middle end where the rib cage meets).
The cane length at the sternum level is not recommended unless you live in a crowded city, because the long cane (i.e. the cane length between the chin or nose level) is more useful for the visually impaired user to identify obstacles on the ground, which means safer walking. It can also walk faster. The disadvantage of the long cane is that it is heavier than other canes.
Right now we offer 3 cane sizes:
- 129 cm (51 inch)
- 137 cm (54 inch)
- 149 cm (59 inch)
You can choose the most suitable option for you.
