Here is what to try if obstacle detection does not respond as expected:
- Make sure the sensor is facing the upper front area and is not covered by your hand while you hold the handle.
- Check the sensor on the front of the device to make sure it’s clean and nothing is blocking it. If it looks dusty, blow firmly into it to the obstacle detection sensor to clear the dust out — avoid wiping it, as that can push dust into the sensor instead of removing it.
- Change the obstacle detection distance. Short-press the obstacle detection button to cycle through the options, or open the WeWALK app, connect your cane, and go to Device Preferences, then Obstacle Detection Preferences in the Smart Cane tab.
- Make sure you are using the Pathfinder 360 or Flex tip included in the package. Obstacle detection is optimised for these tips.
- If the issue started after the cane was exposed to rain or liquid, place the cane at room temperature with the sensor facing downward for 24 hours, then check whether all functions work properly.
If the issue continues regardless of your settings, please contact us at [email protected] with a short video of the issue, and we will investigate further.
