Customizing Obstacle Detection Settings Through the Smart Cane

1 min read

You can customize obstacle detection settings either directly on your Smart Cane or through the WeWALK app.

Using the Smart Cane 2

The Obstacle Detection Button is located on the side of the cane handle, between the Calibration Button and the USB-C charging port. When holding the cane upright, it is the upper button on the right side and has a round shape.

  • Turn On/Off Obstacle Detection – Press and hold the obstacle detection button to turn the feature on or off.
  • Adjust Detection Range – Once obstacle detection is on, press the same button briefly to cycle through detection ranges: Short, Mid, and Far

Using the WeWALK App

If your WeWALK Smart Cane 2 and WeWALK app are up to date, you can also customize settings via the app:

  • Connect your Smart Cane 2 via the Smart Cane tab
  • Tap “Device Preferences”
  • Go to “Obstacle Detection Preferences”
  • Select detection range: Off, Short, Mid, or Far
  • Customize feedback options:
    • Enable or disable sound feedback
    • Enable or disable vibration feedback
    • Use both for combined audio and haptic feedback
  • Additional options:
    • Enable continuous vibration
    • Turn on the flashlight when an obstacle is detected

We recommend using the Far setting outdoors to maximize detection range. To find the most suitable setting, stand in front of a flat wall and test each level to determine which works best for your environment and preferences.
